Springbridge Featured on ITV’s Love Your GardenPublished Sunday 15th March 2020
Springbridge were honoured to help Alan Titchmarsh and the Love Your Garden team transform the garden at the Age UK Thornton Heath centre in Croydon, south London.
Episode 4 of the hit gardening show aired at 8pm on Tuesday evening (March 17th) and saw Springbridge joining together with suppliers of other necessary materials, as well as the team of famous gardening experts and a truly inspirational group of older people.
We provided the topsoil they needed to help create an easily accessible and vibrant outdoor area for the community, who were delighted with the results. Age UK Croydon said: “We are so pleased with the garden and the impact it’s had on the members of the centre.”
The Love Your Garden team at ITV also expressed their delight via social media, saying: “In our episode tonight we had the pleasure of creating a garden for Age UK Croydon. It's a heart-warming episode where we were able to create an easy access and exciting space for the community at Age UK. It's become a place where they can enjoy their love for both gardening and the outdoors together.”
The Love Your Garden team also reached out to us personally, posting on their Facebook page: “Thank you to Springbridge Direct Ltd for your help this week. They sell topsoil in various forms to help you improve your garden or growing space.”
Love Your Garden – Inspirational Location
The episode also featured Alan visiting an urban garden in south London that despite its city surroundings, has been transformed into a quiet and relaxing outdoor space via several clever design ideas and creative plant choices. The private garden is host to various tropical plants including bamboo and palms, bananas and cannas, all of which help create an intimate space evoking the serenity of a cottage garden in the countryside.
The garden’s owners Joe and Alex purposefully chose low maintenance materials like ‘architectural’ plants such as shrubs and trees. Other low maintenance gardening material ideas include decorative aggregates which are ideal for people who don’t have the time for regular gardening.
Joe and Alex cleverly used bamboo plants by the fencing to serve as a barrier against the wind and to dampen the sounds coming from nearby streets. They used wide wooden steps to terrace the garden, with the pathways leading to designated areas including a patio and an eco spa tub. Colourful plants such as Begonia Firecrackers line the pathways and steps, with plant-covered fencing completely enveloping the space in lush greenery.
Using Topsoil to Create Your Perfect Garden Oasis
Topsoil is the upper layer of native soil found in any garden environment and will usually be between two and eight inches deep. Topsoil contains the highest amounts of micro-organisms and organic matter and is thus the ideal earth to grow most kinds of vegetation such as plants, flowers and shrubs.
You can buy loose loads of topsoil to be directly placed at a designated location or you can buy topsoil bulk bags that can be used as and when required. Either way, good quality topsoil is a fundamental part of creating your ideal outdoor area, whether it is a countryside cottage garden, secluded urban oasis or a community centre’s shared space as we saw on last night’s inspirational episode of Love Your Garden.
If you require any topsoil for a gardening or landscaping project whether it be loose loads or bulk bags of topsoil, then contact Springbridge via our website or call today on 0333 456 1921 for more information.
