How much topsoil do I need to use?
Springbridge's topsoil calendar is here to help!
and early summer are ideal times for getting your garden and landscaping
projects underway. Whether you are freshening up the soil for some new plants
or developing an entirely new green area, you are going to need plenty of
nutrient-rich topsoil to give your project the best chance of blossoming
wonderfully over the rest of the summer.
Exactly how much new topsoil you need might seem like a mathematical nightmare, but it is actually very easy to figure out using the Springbridge Topsoil Calculator. Here we walk you through how to use the calculator and find out exactly how much topsoil you need for your purposes.
How to Use the Topsoil Calculator
First choose which product you require, with the Springbridge Topsoil Calculator featuring four categories
starting with topsoil, with further categories including compost, landscape
bark and play bark.
Secondly you will be asked to select the shape of the area you are
looking to use the topsoil or other products in. For calculation purposes,
there are four options including a square, circle, triangle and L-shape. Most
areas you will use topsoil or the other products for will fall under one of
these shapes. Even if the area you want to use your product doesn’t fit exactly
into any of these four shapes, you can still select the one that matches up the
closest. A semi-circle space, for example, would be best matched with a
triangle as they will have similar dimensions. Simply measure the straight-line
distance from one corner of the semi-circle to the peak of the rounded part and
measure back towards the other corner to get the two shorter lines of the
triangle. A rectangular shape can be calculated via the square option, as two
different lengths can be entered for each side.
The third step requires you to enter the measurements of the
space. The fields you need to enter are unique to each shape, but each has a
diagram explaining exactly which measurements you need to enter.
The final step is entering the amount of depth you will need to
fill with the product. This might sound like the most difficult part to figure
out for yourself, but again it is quite easy as the Springbridge Topsoil
Calculator features depth recommendations according to the most common usages
of each product.
