Springbridge delivery policies Getting your products to you without delay
At Springbridge, we place the utmost importance on the safe and secure delivery of the goods our customers’ order.
We have our own vehicles for fast local deliveries around the Home Counties and London and make use of the low carbon fleet option available through a reliable pallet network for other deliveries.
How Springbridge Haulage Delivers Your Goods
We provide various options for the delivery of your goods so you can receive them exactly how you require. One option is to order loose loads which can be tipped off the back of a truck at a location of your choice. Other options include the goods being delivered in bulk bags or on a pallet.
Bulk bag deliveries such as ton of topsoil will usually be delivered by our own vehicles within the Home Counties and London. Our vehicles are equipped with a crane offload that can reach approximately 5 metres for better placement of the bulk bag. The only issue here is that the crane requires space above, so overhead obstructions such as cables or low hanging tree branches can limit the range of the crane reach.
Beyond the Home Counties we rely on reputable pallet network organisations. The bulk bags are placed on a pallet to be offloaded by a pallet truck. The limitations of this delivery method concern the manoeuvrability of the forked pallet truck used to offload the goods. A hard and flat ground surface is ideal, but the likes of muddy soil, quality turf or gravel can cause problems for the small wheels of the pallet truck.
Pallet Networks and Low Carbon Fleets
A pallet network is co-operative organisations consisting of various groups of professional hauliers. Together the groups provide a cost-effective low carbon fleet as they eliminate the need for multiple vehicles carrying smaller loads as one larger vehicle can carry multiple smaller loads in one go.
Usually hauliers will operate out of their local depot from where they can collect pallet loads to be delivered elsewhere. The loads are assigned according to destination. Pallets to be delivered beyond the operational jurisdiction of the local hauliers will be transported together to the correct depot when the hauliers in that area can carry out the final delivery. This mass delivery of loads is what helps keeps costs down and produce a low carbon fleet during the delivery cycle.
Our Springbridge haulage protocol favours using pallet networks because they are environmentally friendly as well as more efficient for delivery and cost purposes.
Benefits of Using Pallet Networks
The benefits of using a pallet network is all about economies of scale in transport. A pallet network saves companies having to invest in extra equipment and internal systems to arrange the deliveries.
Pallet networks offer next day deliveries to most of the UK, and there are usually delivery options available over weekends and bank holidays as well.
The professional hauliers who comprise pallet networks use the latest track and trace technology so the security of the freight is guaranteed with its exact location along the delivery route always known.
