At Springbridge Group, we’re proud to support projects that require both precision and performance. While our materials often sit beneath the surface, they play a critical role in shaping the quality and longevity of specialist environments like golf courses.

This was certainly the case in our recent work with Countrywide at Wycombe Heights Golf Centre, where we supplied materials to support the redevelopment of key bunkers across the course.

Project Overview

This project focused on the renovation of the 16th, 17th, and 18th holes, with works carried out over a four-week period.

To minimise disruption and ensure the course could remain operational, the project was carefully delivered in stages. This approach allowed players to continue using other parts of the course while improvements were made.

Springbridge Group supplied:

• 240 tonnes of Rootzone
• 1 loose load of 10mm Shingle
• 1 loose load of MOT Type 1

Each material was selected to support both the structural integrity and drainage performance of the bunkers.

Specialist Golf Course Construction

Countrywide are specialists in golf course construction, delivering projects ranging from individual bunkers and greens to full course builds.

Their expertise lies in creating high-performance bunkers designed to withstand the demands of play and the challenges of the British climate. Key features of their work include:

• High drainage systems capable of rates up to 100 inches per hour
• Durable bunker liners that maintain strong, defined edges
• Reduced contamination from surrounding soils
• Washable bunker systems, extending lifespan and reducing replacement costs

Their portfolio includes some of the world’s top 100 golf courses, including Ryder Cup and PGA venues, reflecting the quality and consistency of their work.

Supplying Materials for Performance and Durability

For a project like this, material quality is essential.

The rootzone supports turf establishment and stability, while the 10mm shingle and MOT Type 1 play a key role in drainage and sub-base strength. Together, these materials help ensure the bunkers perform effectively in all weather conditions.

By supplying multiple materials for the project, we were able to streamline logistics and support the smooth progression of works on site.

The Importance of Collaboration

This project is a great example of how strong working relationships contribute to successful outcomes.

Our account manager, Lauren Cresswell, has been working closely with Countrywide since early 2024, building a solid understanding of their requirements through regular communication and site visits.

“I have been working closely with Countrywide since January 2024, and it has been a genuinely rewarding experience. Visiting site and seeing their operations first-hand has been invaluable in strengthening both my knowledge and our working relationship.”

Over the past two years, Countrywide have also developed strong relationships with both our transport and sales teams, creating a reliable and collaborative partnership.

Springbridge Group has supported their projects by supplying:

• Aggregates
• Rootzones
• Haulage
• Muck away services

This ongoing collaboration has allowed us to align closely with their expectations and deliver materials in a way that supports their workflow.

“Over the past months, our partnership has continued to grow, built on clear communication and mutual understanding. I look forward to continuing to build on this relationship and supporting Countrywide in the future.”

Project Outcome

The completed bunker works at Wycombe Heights Golf Centre have enhanced both the performance and durability of the course.

By combining expert construction with high-quality materials and a phased delivery approach, the project has delivered long-lasting improvements while keeping the course operational throughout.
