At Springbridge Group, we often play a key role behind the scenes. Our materials form the foundation of landscaping and construction projects, but we don’t always get to see the finished result.
That’s why it’s always rewarding to look back on projects like this one delivered by Meristem Design, where thoughtful landscaping has helped transform a residential environment.
Project Overview
This project involved the conversion of a former office building into residential flats. As part of the redevelopment, a planter scheme was designed and installed to create a natural screen between residents and a busy adjacent car park.
The aim was to improve privacy while reducing the impact of noise and light, helping to create a more comfortable and visually appealing living environment.
Working within an active urban site presented several challenges, particularly around access, timing, and installation.

Supplying Landscaping Materials for Urban Projects
To support the landscaping works, Springbridge Group supplied a range of materials, including:
- Primary Washed 20mm Shingle
- BS3882 Multi-Purpose Topsoil
- Woodland Mulch
Being able to source multiple materials from a single supplier helped streamline the project and reduce complexity for the site team.
Each product was selected to support both the structural and aesthetic elements of the planter scheme, contributing to a durable and effective visual screen.
Overcoming Site Challenges with Smart Logistics
One of the key challenges on this project was the restricted working environment. The site remained active throughout, with ongoing vehicle movement and limited space available for material handling.
A standard delivery method would have required additional manual handling, increasing both time and disruption.
To overcome this, we used an 8-wheeler flatbed with crane, allowing bulk bags to be lifted directly into position.
Our driver remained on site to crane-lift materials over the planters, enabling the installation team to cut open the bags and place materials exactly where they were needed.
This approach:
- Reduced manual handling on site
- Improved installation efficiency
- Minimised disruption within a busy environment
It also allowed the project to progress more smoothly, with materials delivered and installed in a controlled and efficient way.

The Importance of Collaboration and Communication
This project is a great example of how strong working relationships support successful outcomes.
Springbridge Group has been working with Meristem Design since early 2024, developing a clear understanding of their requirements, particularly around timing, access, and offloading.
Through ongoing communication, both teams were able to coordinate deliveries effectively and adapt to the needs of the site as the project progressed.
This level of collaboration helps ensure that materials arrive when needed, in the right format, and ready for immediate use.
Project Outcome
The completed planter scheme now provides an effective green screen, improving privacy for residents while softening the surrounding environment.
By combining practical design with quality materials and efficient delivery, the project has created a more attractive and functional outdoor space within a busy urban setting.
